THE MILL
When I asked the owner if I could photograph his mill all he said was , "Sure." He did not think it would be very interesting because most of the equipment was old. Boy was he wrong.

THE YARD
I started in the yard where the logs are stored. A loader brings them to a grapple where they are sorted and placed in the debarker

THE DEBARKER
The sorted logs are loaded onto the debarker where a powerful machine strips the logs of their bark.

THE SAWMILL
The logs are sized into cants and then sawed into boards, which are man-handled and stacked.

THE PLANER MILL
Rough boards are smoothed on four sides by a planing machine. The finished lumber is stacked by hand.
