Southeastern Utah is dominated by reds so this small ruined wall in a white cave stood out. This wall is about 1000 years old and sits atop much older ruins.
On the right of this gate the cliff plunges 300 feet and it is the only way into the cliffside village. I was careful not to disturb anything and not to plunge to my doom.
Desperate times require desperate lodging. This entire village is perched 300 feet above the canyon floor. It was not discovered until 1965.
I can always locate David by his white cap. Here he inspects the ruins of a Great House in Utah. We could look but never touch.
We came across this small ruin perched above the floor of a very narrow canyon. Was it built there to avoid floodwaters or enemies?
While driving down this wide valley we saw numerous mounds. When we looked at them they were ruins with old walls and pot shards.
